History of the Bay St. Chinese Christmas Party
Around Christmas time in 1993, 12 friends, with ethnic Chinese background working in the financial institutions on Bay Street, got together to socialize. It marked the birth of a well-anticipated annual event, a gathering of friends in a closely-knit circle each year around Christmas time, to meet old friends and make new ones. The event has since been referred to as The Bay Street Chinese Christmas Party. This will be the 15th running of the party.
Over the years, the gathering has quickly grown in popularity, fully packing the chosen venue each year, reflecting the growing weight of Chinese professionals on Bay Street. Each year, a number of well-respected academics and senior industry executives are invited. The party has also attracted the attention of recruiters as a venue to publicize their business.  Honoured guests, from the General Consul of China to Senior VPs of the major financial institutions to eminent academics of the leading business schools have also weighted in with their appearances and encouraging remarks.

The party has been made possible by the efforts of many volunteers. Since 2001, The Canadian Chinese Finance Association (www.TheCCFA.ca) has been instrumental in motivating and organizing the volunteers.

We borrowed the name to have some fun.  The spirit is self-entertaining.  You can come out on spot, or you can come prepared. Of course, what fun would it be if we do not vote for our favorites?  Three winners will be chosen to receive prizes.  Those who want to come prepared please email Michael.Wang@cibc.com with your intended performance (anything entertaining will be accepted), MP3 files, duration, and any equipment needed (but bring in your own disk if required).
Wining and Prizes
Three winners will be chosen by popular votes and will receive prizes. The grand prize will be a cool gadget of our time, and each contestant will receive a Christmas gift as a token of appreciation.
Dress Code
Cocktail formal dress is expected.
